Why vote for an Independent Candidate in this election?
I often get asked why I’m not in a party. To me the answer is simple - by not being in a political party I do not have to toe the party line if it conflicts with my constituents’ best interests. People also ask me how an independent can make a difference or influence in a council chamber full of parties. As a simple example, the Perth & Kinross Council budget that was recently passed, would not have done so without the support of the Independents and smaller parties on the Council. It is highly unlikely any party will have overall control of the council after the election and so independents could hold the balance of power. If elected, I would work with other independents and party councillors to get the best deal for my constituents.
